Manifesto returns on Saturday 24th January with the Grim Up North? Manifesto - of course it won't be that grim - what it will be is a trip through the North of England, from Morrissey and Madchester, to Merseybeat and the 80's Liverpool New Wavers, over to the sounds of Sheffield, the Yorkshire goths, up to the new indie bands of the North East (and Dire Straits - Romeo & Juliet is the first song on my playlist!) and not forgetting of course, er, It Bites of Cumbria
Hope to see you then (it's my birthday as well!)

The (Christmas) Rock'n'Roll Manifesto - Saturday 8th December
There’ll be Rock’n’Roll Christmas songs galore, some of which you’ll know, some of which we hope are new to you, plus some classics as you’ve never heard them before.
Instead of Wham there’ll be The White Stripes and The Wedding Present, instead of Shakey there’ll be the Smashing Pumpkins and Sufjan Stevens, instead of Mariah Carey there’ll be My Chemical Romance (covering Mariah Carey!), instead of Gary Glitter there’ll be … actually no, there’ll be Gary Glitter … come on, it is Christmas after all. Plus we’ll be playing some of our favourite songs of 2008 when we’re all Christmas’d out or just fancy a change.
As always, not only is entrance free, there’ll also be Christmas booze giveaways, plus after October’s Love Hearts and November’s Sherbet Dip-Dabs & Blue Smarties, expect some Christmas confectionary treats! The night kicks-off at 8pm and as it’s Christmas we’ll be carrying ‘til late (1-ish, maybe later)
